Miquel y Costas, the only Spanish company with a ‘Triple A’ rating in sustainability

Miquel y Costas has been recognized by the international organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), with a ‘Triple A’ rating, which is “unique in Spain and southern Europe and only held by 12 companies worldwide”, as the company has pointed out in a statement. Carbon Disclosure Project has awarded Miquel and Costas an ‘A’ in each of the three categories evaluated: action on climate change, forest management and water consumption. CDP is a non-profit entity that measures “the commitment, strategy and management of companies and cities in their commitment to promote a sustainable economy in an effective and transparent manner.” “Miquel y Costas has made the defense of the environment one of its hallmarks and the basis of its growth. “This is why becoming the first Spanish and southern European company to belong to CDP’s “Triple A List” is a source of pride for the Group, as well as recognition of years of work, investment and commitment to sustainability,” stated the president of Miquel y Costas, Jordi Mercader Barata. The company points out that it has implemented strategies in line with the new established objectives, which seek to reduce direct and indirect emissions from the generation of purchased and consumed energy (scope 1+2 emissions) by 51% ( 2018-2030) and achieve climate neutrality before 2050. “In 2023, the group achieved a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 15% and increased the energy consumed from renewable sources by more than 8% compared to the previous year,” the company said in a statement.
